Gorgeous Antique 1913 Underwood 5 Typewriter - Glass Keys - Working Well with Extra Ribbon

299.99

Excellent, lovely antique Underwood 5 typewriter, in great working condition! The Underwood 5 is the best-selling typewriter of all time. Its sturdy construction, handsome appearance and ease of use has made it a classic among typewriters, and is the model that most people think of when they think "antique" typewriter. It's easy to understand why! It has great lines, classic design and is a workhorse to boot. I love that you can see all of the complex inner workings of this machine.

This particular Underwood 5 also has, in my opinion, quite a desirable patina from age. You can still see its original pinstripes, but the machine is wonderfully worn in and well-used. This lovely machine was made in approximately 1913 - it just looks like history! Features a wooden space bar as well. Importantly, it is working well with freshly-oiled keys (oiled a lanolin-based machine oil) and cleaned internal components. This machine is relatively easy to type on for an antique machine, and would make a great machine for a regular writer!

This typewriter also comes with a brand-new ribbon installed. The exterior of the machine has also been waxed to maintain its current appearance. Wear is apparent in the paint, which has lost some of its gloss. Logos and some of the pinstriping is still clear and readable.

Lovely piece of history ready for display and/or for everyday use.

No case. Manual available online for this machine here: http://www.machinesoflovinggrace.com/manuals/Underwood3-5manual.pdf

I base my typewriter prices on condition of typewriter, and desirability factors including color, condition, typeface, and rarity. I pack well using packing peanuts to ensure a smooth, gentle ride for your new machine.
