Excellent Vintage 1950s Olympia SM3 Typewriter - Working Perfectly with New Ribbon - Wide Carriage

174.99

This wonderful vintage Olympia SM3 typewriter, in fetching green and in tip top working order. It features a green metal body with lovely curves, dark green plastic keys, and sweet chrome accent strips and name plate. These Olympias have been engineered to exacting German standards, and was manufactured in West Germany. It has an incredibly smooth, quiet type action, and is easy to operate. This was likely an accounting machine, as evidenced by the wide carriage and additional tabular functions.

Cosmetically, the machine is in very good condition, excepting a few blemishes in the paint. There are some areas in the paint on the key cover which show some slight discoloration, likely from years of hands dirty from ink from ribbons touching the machine. There are also a couple of white streaks on the key cover, clearly visible in photos. Otherwise, the chrome is nice, clean and shiny and overall the machine is very sophisticated and (for its time) modern in its in appearance.

Mechanically, this typewriter could not be in better condition. Its keys are freshly oiled and snappy. The type action is buttery - one of the nicest machines I've had in a while. All functions have been tested and are working.

Typewriter comes with its original hard case. Manual available for this machine here: http://site.xavier.edu/polt/typewriters/OlympiaSM3.pdf

I base my typewriter prices on condition of typewriter, and desirability factors including color, condition, typeface, and rarity. I pack well using packing peanuts to ensure a smooth, gentle ride for your new machine.
